Christiana Care nurses earn highest honors for quality care
When nurses at Christiana Care Health System hear, “You really are making a difference in people’s lives,” they say that it’s all in a day’s work.
Christiana Care nurses are recognized for excellence by national and state nursing organizations and earn accolades from the patients they serve every day. But, it’s not about the awards. “We do this work because we love it,” said Josie Robinson, RN, CEN, a Christiana Care nurse who works in the Emergency Department.
Robinson was the inaugural winner of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at Christiana Care in 2014. “I love to help people,” Robinson said. “Being recognized for the efforts that I put in every day, and the 100 percent that I give every day, made me feel
Treally special.”
he DAISY Award recognizes extraordinary nurses, nurse leaders and nurse-led teams internationally who exceed the needs and expectations of patients and families with exceptional clinical skills, compassion, respect,
leadership and partnership.
Winning a DAISY Award is especially meaningful, said Tammy Layer, MSN, RN, OCN, who chairs the Professional Nurse Council for Christiana Care, because patients, families and colleagues nominate the nurses.
“The DAISY Award celebrates the positive impact our nurses have on the lives of others,” Layer said. “It allows our community to hon- or and say thank you to outstanding nurses throughout the year.”
