CARING FOR YOURSELF
Telehealth — perfect for flu, now offers behavioral health
As we enter the flu season, remember that our telehealth program Christiana Care Care Now can connect you or a loved one through video with a board-certified doctor or other clinician quickly and easily, 24/7 using your mobile device, tablet or personal computer.
Care Now covers health care concerns that require immediate attention — such as flu, colds, sprains or strains or if you are simply not feeling well — but not serious enough to require a visit to the emergency department.
New this year — Behavioral Health
Introducing Behavioral Health — whether at home, at work, or while traveling — now you can see a psychiatrist on your terms. Choose from a selection of therapists for video appointments on your mobile device or computer. The service is ideal for the management of:
• Anxiety.
• Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). • Depression.
• Post-traumatic stress disorder.
• And more.
Christiana Care greatly values and understands the vital role of your primary and specialty care doctor
in your health and well-being. Care Now is for you to use when your doctor’s office is closed, your children need immediate care or you are traveling for work or vacation and need a doctor or forgot a prescription. It is not intended to replace your primary care doctor.
Clinical services on Care Now are provided by American Well’s Online Care Group — one of the nation’s first and largest groups of physicians devoted to telehealth. These physicians are board- certified, licensed and credentialed and have profiles, so users see their education and practice experience. ●
How to sign up or refresh the app
To get started, download the Care Now app and register for free. In most cases,
you’ll be able to choose a clinician from
a list of available caregivers. Depending
on the issue, the doctor can diagnose, suggest follow-up care and even prescribe
medication. Seeing a board-certified doctor minutes after you log in can give you peace of mind. Be sure to sign up early, before you actually need to use Care Now.

Best practice review
Q. CAN I CHANGE A PATIENT ROOM OR CLOSET ON MY UNIT INTO EQUIPMENT STORAGE OR SUPPLY STORAGE?
A. Before any rooms or spaces are changed, modified, or repurposed they must first be evaluated by Facilities Engineering or Design Services.
Q. WHY DOES THE ROOM NEED TO BE EVALUATED BEFORE REPURPOSING?
A. Rooms are designed and constructed to meet the requirements for a specific purpose. When you change the purpose of the room, it may no longer meet the necessary requirements. For example:
• Life Safety and Facilities Guidelines require certain types of doors and hardware to be installed on patient rooms versus storage rooms to minimize the effects of fire, smoke and heat on patients and staff.
• Clean supply rooms have specific ventilation requirements.
• All changes must be documented and reflected on facility drawings which are reviewed by the State Fire Marshal, The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
CHANGING OR REPURPOSING ROOMS
Q. DO I NEED TO HAVE THE ROOM EVALUATED IF RENOVATIONS ARE NOT NEEDED?
A. Yes, all room changes must be reviewed to assure they comply with Life Safety and Facilities Guidelines.
Q. WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO REQUEST AN EVALUATION PRIOR TO CHANGING, MODIFYING OR REPURPOSING A ROOM?
A. To have a room/area evaluated for a possible change, modification or repurposing, submit a Space Modification Request to Facilities Engineering. The form is Attachment A in the Construction/Renovation Process policy. The Space Planning Committee reviews the requests and an evaluation is performed as needed by Facilities Engineering or Design Services. ●
