Omar Khan named physician leader for Partnerships and Academic Programs
Omar A. Khan, M.D., MHS, FAAFP, has received two new leadership appointments: physician leader for partnerships and academic programs at Christiana Care Health System and president and CEO of the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance (DHSA).
As the physician leader for partnerships and academic programs, Dr. Khan will collaborate with Chief People Officer Neil Jasani, M.D., MBA, and the senior research leadership team to develop and implement the vision for research capacity at Christiana Care and link clinical value to research efforts.
As DHSA president, Dr. Khan will lead the organization co-founded by Christiana Care, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Thomas Jefferson University and the University
of Delaware in 2009, dedicated to advancing
the health of Delawareans through biomedical research, access to health care and the education of health care professionals.
He will fill both roles concurrently and retain his faculty appointments at the University of Delaware and Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas
Jefferson University, and medical staff appointment in Pediatrics at Nemours. He will continue to see patients and to teach as a faculty member in the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
Dr. Khan joined the Medical-Dental Staff at Christiana Care in 2006. He helped co-found the Global Health Residency curriculum at Christiana Care and has been a leader in the Delaware CTR-ACCEL program, a multi-site, NIH- funded collaboration to accelerate clinical and translational research.
He is currently on the board of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health and is president-elect of the Delaware Academy of Medicine. He has received numerous recognitions for his academic, research and clinical contributions recently, including the Emergency Medicine/Family Medicine Attending of the Year from Christiana Care, the Dean’s Award for Service to Medicine & Community from the University of Vermont, Christiana Care Preceptor of the Year in Family Medicine, Editor of the Year from BioMedCentral and twice as a “Top Doc” by Philadelphia Magazine. ●

Annamarie Flick appointed nurse manager of patient care unit 5B at Christiana Hospital
Annamarie Flick, MSN, RN-BC, has been appointed nurse manager of the 5B Medical Unit at Christiana Hospital.
Flick joined Christiana Care Health System in
2008 and has served two years as assistant nurse manager of 5B. Previously she was a staff nurse
in Endoscopy for a year and served for six years
on the surgical stepdown unit. She was a pediatric bedside nurse at Nemours Children’s Hospital from 2010-2013.
Flick has been a member of the systemwide Professional Nurse Council and the systemwide Education Council.
She has presented at nursing grand rounds on the topic of emotional intelligence in bedside nursing, and at the PNC retreat on the topic of lateral accountability in nursing practice.
Prior to starting her nursing career she served for eight years in the United States Coast Guard as a marine science technician.
Flick earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Delaware Technical Community College, a BSN from the University of Delaware and an MSN with focus on executive leadership from Wilmington University. She is certified in medical-surgical nursing through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. ●
