Newsweek Names Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital Among America’s Best for 2nd Year in a Row

For the second consecutive year, ChristianaCare’s Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital has been recognized on Newsweek’s 2024 list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers, ranking ChristianaCare as the No.1 rehabilitation center in Delaware.

The award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc. The list recognized 300 leading inpatient rehabilitation facilities in 25 states.

“We are honored by this recognition, as it reflects the expert, comprehensive rehabilitative services we provide,” said Jennifer Thomas, vice president of Rehabilitation Services at ChristianaCare. “These services help patients make progress in their recoveries and return to more fulfilling, productive lives after an injury or illness.”

The Center for Rehabilitation’s innovative facility includes state-of-the-art equipment, the latest therapeutic technology and techniques, and real-life skill simulation environments, focusing on helping people increase their strength and skills as they prepare to return home.

ChristianaCare’s Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital delivers personalized patient care that addresses each patient’s distinct needs. The center specializes in assisting patients and their families as they recover from amputation, brain injury, cancer complications, fractures, orthopedic conditions, joint replacement, neurologic disorders, spinal cord injuries, stroke, and trauma.

Nationally Recognized for Delivering High-Quality Rehab Care

To determine the best rehab centers, Newsweek examined four data sources:

• Data for Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFS) published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
• A national online survey of experts with knowledge of physical rehabilitation centers (physicians, physiotherapists, doctors, clinic managers and other health care professionals).
• Reviews from Google as a measurement for patient satisfaction.
• Accreditation data on physical rehabilitation centers provided by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

ChristianaCare’s Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital has delivered top-tier rehabilitation services for more than 30 years, setting the standard in the state and ranking among the best in the region.

Since 1993, the Center for Rehabilitation has maintained accreditation by CARF International, which is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.

CARF accreditation demonstrates that the Center for Rehabilitation meets CARF’s high standards for quality and safety. For patients, CARF accreditation is an easily recognizable symbol of a high-quality, safe rehabilitation program. An organization receiving accreditation must maintain conformance to the CARF standards and undergo a rigorous peer review process every three years. ChristianaCare’s accreditation was most recently renewed following an on-site visit in June 2024.

“We take great pride in the remarkable dedication of our team and the perseverance of our patients,” Thomas added. “It’s an honor to lead a team committed to improving the quality of life for every patient, every time.”
