Together with his wife, Tatiana Copeland, Gerret Copeland demonstrated a profound commitment to ensuring that every person has access to high-quality, compassionate care. Through their remarkable generosity, the Copelands helped transform care at ChristianaCare—particularly in cancer and heart and vascular services—leaving a lasting impact on patients and families across Delaware and the surrounding region.
In recognition of their leadership and philanthropy, ChristianaCare named The Gerret and Tatiana Copeland Arrhythmia Center at ChristianaCare’s Center for Heart & Vascular Health, providing leading-edge care for heart rhythm disorders. The Copelands also made a generous contribution in support of advanced cardiovascular treatments, for which the Gerret and Tatiana Copeland Heart & Vascular Interventional Suite at Christiana Hospital is named. The Tatiana Copeland Breast Center at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute is similarly named for their support for breast cancer prevention, early detection and research, especially for women from underrepresented communities. Their gifts also helped make ChristianaCare one of the first health systems in the nation to offer 3D mammography, expanding access to lifesaving technology for thousands of women.
“Gerret Copeland believed deeply in using generosity as a force for good,” said Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH, president and CEO of ChristianaCare. “Together with Tatiana, he helped us reimagine what is possible in care—bringing hope, dignity and healing to countless people. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the healthier communities he helped build.”
ChristianaCare extends its heartfelt condolences to Tatiana Copeland and the entire Copeland family. We are profoundly grateful for Gerret Copeland’s life, leadership and enduring commitment to creating health so that every person can flourish.
