Sharon L. Anderson, R.N., B.S.N., M.S., FACHE, is the Chief Virtual Health Officer and President of the Center for Virtual Health at ChristianaCare.
Ms. Anderson, in her previous role as the Sr. Vice President for Quality and Patient Safety, led ChristianaCare in achieving national recognition related to several patient safety and quality initiatives, including winning the prestigious 2017 John M. Eisenberg Award and the Stand Up for Patient Safety Management Award for outcomes achieved through ChristianaCare’s CareVio Services, the Truven Health Analytics Everest and 100 Top Hospitals Awards, the Joint Commission’s prestigious Ernest A. Codman Award, Becker’s 100 Great Hospitals in America and top ratings from Healthgrades, Leapfrog, U.S. News and World Report, and Carechex for clinical outcomes.
Ms. Anderson has helped develop several new programs to address the entire continuum of cancer care, including prevention, screening, surveillance, diagnosis and treatment, management of complications, and end-of-life issues. She won the WHYY Community Caring Award for her innovative work in cancer care.
Ms. Anderson has established ChristianaCare’s CareVio Services, an innovative care management program that harnesses real-time clinical information from State Health Information Exchanges to create a care management platform that supports a unique care management model. This program has won two national quality awards. She is now leading the Center for Virtual Health, ChristianaCare’s wholly-owned company focusing on transforming care delivery leveraging virtual and digital solutions.
Ms. Anderson has been named a 2021 Women of Technology Award winner. The New Castle County Chamber of Commerce awarded her the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award. She is the recipient of ACHE’s Regent’s Award, recognizing her contributions to excellence in healthcare management. The University of Delaware has recognized her as an outstanding nursing alumnus in the past 50 years of the program.
