Jennifer, you’ve had a really interesting career across many industries, and you’ve come full circle to bring all that knowledge to ChristianaCare as their VP Supply Chain. Can you share how you navigated the industry changes?

JG: I graduated with a degree in business and my first job was at UPMC as a buyer. Throughout my almost 10 years there I had a thirst for learning and worked in almost every area in Supply Chain including inventory management, ordering, software implementations, implementing and managing the p-card program, sourcing and contracts for our clinical products. I was ready for a new challenge so I leveraged my core skills and went to Philips where I continued to broaden my responsibilities into planning and raw materials management. I was inspired by having access to more advanced technologies and different ways of collaborating. I started to truly value the skills I was gaining by working at different companies and industries. I took another twist and went to StarKist and for the first time I saw the global supply chain from start to finish. In addition to once again facing new challenges, I also was exposed to sourcing supply around the globe. It was a great experience, but personally challenging at the time with my young children and global travel. Fortunately, Allegheny Health System was looking to start a new supply chain area, and I was offered my first senior leadership role. I found my way back to healthcare, which I realized was my true passion, and now I was armed with fresh ideas and ready to lead. ChristianaCare recruited me for the vice president role and I couldn’t be happier to be here.
