ChristianaCare’s Salutes! Employee Resource Group (ERG) honored caregivers and community members who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces with flag-raising ceremonies at the health system’s campuses in Cecil County, Newark and Wilmington. On the Newark campus, the event featured a performance by the Delaware Military Alliance Choir.
Allen Smith, MSN, MSM, RN, CCNS-BC, vice president of Patient Care Services, shared insights on the origins of Veterans Day and the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by service members.
“At ChristianaCare, we are grateful for the service and sacrifices of our veterans and active-duty military,” Smith said. “Our inclusive culture embraces them, thanking them not only for their dedication to our country but also for the sense of community they foster through the Salutes! Employee Resource Group.
“Honoring our veterans is one way we live out our core values of love and excellence, recognizing the courage and commitment of those who have served.”
Employees expressed gratitude to veterans for their dedication and service with messages shared in slide show.
The Salutes! It is one of 11 employee resource groups at ChristianaCare that strive to promote an inclusive environment, enhance professional development and help foster an exceptional caregiver experience.
ChristianaCare’s dedication to veterans and caregivers who serve has gained national recognition.
