The Friends of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute hosted Celebration of Hope Oct. 5 at the Hotel DuPont. The event raised more than $250,000 for translational cancer research at ChristianaCare.

More than 300 guests enjoyed the annual black tie gala with a theme of Carnevale di Venezia, invoking the sights, sounds and cuisine of Venice, Italy. Inspired by the historic Venetian Carnevale, guests brought their own masks or visited the skilled face painters who created colorful, exotic looks unique to each guest.

(From left) Linda Powell, Jerry Powell, Stacey Bacchieri, Alex Johnson, Krista Bacchieri, Nolan Bacchieri and Anna Taber enjoyed the spirit of Carnevale.

The evening’s events included a silent auction with such gifts as an authentic seven-course Italian dinner with wine parings, a selection of Italian wines and travel to an Alpine resort along the Italian border.

Organizers thanked supporters for celebrating the renaissance of hope that grows with each new breakthrough in the fight against cancer.
