Cydney T. Teal, M.D., has been appointed leader of the Primary Care & Community Medicine Service Line and chair of Family and Community Medicine.
In this role, Dr. Teal will lead the development of innovative and effective models of care delivery, focused on increasing access to primary care, advancing health equity and promoting readiness for value-based care. She will provide clinical leadership over assigned practices to achieve service line goals for Optimal Health, Exceptional Experience, and Organizational Vitality.
Dr. Teal served as chief medical officer at Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland, and was the first female in that role at the hospital. In addition, Dr. Teal was an attending physician at Union Primary Care in Elkton. She was a member of the Union Hospital medical staff for 19 years, with roles as president of the medical staff and medical director of quality. She has been honored for her work in quality, safety, community health and public health.
Dr. Teal is board-certified in family practice and internal medicine and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and the American College of Physicians. She earned her medical degree from the Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia, and completed her residency in family practice and internal medicine, including serving as chief resident, at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Teal reports to Christine Donohue-Henry, M.D., chief medical officer for community care.
