President and CEO Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH, was honored with two awards for her dedication to advancing the health and wellness of the community on behalf of Christiana Care Health System.

With Christiana Care President and CEO Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH, are Wayne Smith, president and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association, and Steven A. Rose, named most valuable PAC player.

At the annual Delaware Healthcare Association Forum in October, the American Hospital Association named Dr. Nevin Delaware’s Grassroots Champion for her work in supporting the health needs of the community with education, support and advocacy. The honor recognizes individuals for exemplary work in broadening community support for hospitals, effectively educating elected officials on major issues affecting the vital role of hospitals in the community and serving as tireless advocates for hospitals and their patients.

In November, the Wilmington Senior Center honored Dr. Nevin with the David G. Menser Award for her commitment to the health of older adults in the Wilmington community and her willingness to “go the extra mile” through innovation and excellence in health care. Christiana Care partners with the Wilmington Senior Center and many other organizations in the city and the state on access to health services to ensure health equity.

“Janice’s guidance is impactful: ‘We take care of people. Be innovative. Be connected,’” said Omar A. Khan, M.D., MHS, physician leader for partnerships and academic programs at Christiana Care Health System, introducing the Menser Award. “Her commitment to Christiana Care serving the community is evident in everything she does and each service we provide as a health system.”

As leader of the largest health system in Delaware, Dr. Nevin is dedicated to advancing The Christiana Care Way, the organization’s promise to serve its community with expert, respectful care in partnership with patients and families in ways they value and can afford.
