Kathy Boyer, MSN, RN, CCRN — Injury Prevention Coordinator

Kathy Boyer, BSN, RN, CCRN, is a nurse in the Trauma Department at Christiana Care where she serves as the Injury Prevention Coordinator. Kathy’s past experience involved 22 years caring for critically ill patients in the Surgical Critical Care Complex. Many of these patients have suffered from traumatic injuries related to car crashes, falls or violence.

Kathy graduated from the University of Delaware with her BSN in 1988 and is currently enrolled in the Masters in Nursing Education program at Wilmington University. She has maintained her Certification in Critical Care nursing for 20 years.

After years of caring for patients who have suffered from traumatic injuries, Kathy is now devoted to the prevention of these injuries. As the coordinator for the ThinkFirst program at Christiana Care she presents to schools around the state on topics related to safety. These programs focus on traffic safety, helmet use, falls prevention and other safety issues for students from elementary through college age. Kathy is also involved in violence and falls prevention for all age groups.

Kathy participates in several state-wide organizations related to the prevention of traumatic injuries. She participates in the Office of Highway Safety Corporate Partners Committee, Safe Kids Delaware, and the Injury Prevention Coalition for Delaware.

Kathy Boyer, BSN, RN, CCRN, serves as the injury prevention coordinator for Christiana Care’s Trauma Department and coordinates the ThinkFirst program at Christiana Care, where she presents across Delaware on topics related to safety.
