Dentistry residents and hygienists team up for ‘back-to-school’ rally

Christiana Care recently partnered with the Sunday Breakfast for their 2016  Back-to-School Rally. Dental residents Mia Holmes and Justin Josell teamed up with other dental professionals from All About Smiles, Westside Health and Delaware Dental Hygienists to provide dental screenings to 88 children.

Twenty-one children required urgent or follow-up care. The families of these children were contacted to provide assistance with finding a dental provider. All the children screened were given new toothbrushes.
In addition to the dental care, the Sunday Breakfast Mission provided backpacks filled with school supplies to over 900 children.  All together, over 275 community families were helped through the Back-to-School Rally and dental screenings.

Christiana Care Social Worker Linda Brennan-Jones again this year helped organize volunteers and supplies for the event. Susan Pugliese, D.D.S., General Practice Dentistry residency program director, recruited Drs. Holmes and Josell, who were thrilled to assist with the event.
