Daniel J. Meara, M.D., D.M.D., program director of Christiana Care’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency, helped champion the passage of the Academic Licensing for Dentistry bill, which was signed into law by Gov. Jack Markell on June 19. The new law strengthens the license of dentists to academic license from limited license, enabling dentists to work as directors, chairs or faculty of hospitals. The bill was sponsored by State Sen. Bethany Hall-Long and State Rep. Rebecca Walker.
