Walking and apps

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise there is. You can make it even more interesting, fun and inspiring by connecting your smartphone to your walking.

One of the barriers to developing an effective workout routine is documenting what you do and using it guide that routine. There are many free smart phone apps that can help you keep a record of your daily health efforts.

App icon Map My Walk Map My Walk is a fitness-tracking application that enables you to use the built-in GPS of your mobile device to track all of your fitness activities.
App icon Everybody Walk Everybody Walk turns your smartphone into a pedometer.
App icon Trailmix TrailMix is an easy-to-use music player that can change the beat of any song to match your footsteps automatically.
App icon Moves Moves automatically records any walking, cycling and running you do. The app is always on, so there’s no need to start and stop it. Just keep your phone in your pocket or your bag.

All of these apps are available on Android and iOS devices. All you do is launch the app, walk, and the app keeps a record of the session. You can then share your activity and achievements via Facebook ,Twitter, Google+ and other social media sites. Sharing your walk not only documents your activity but also inspires others in your social networks to do more. Watch out, you may even encourage others to join you!
