Blood collection now available at Christiana Care Middletown Emergency Dept.

Middletown residents now have convenient access to a blood-test laboratory near their homes at Christiana Care Health System’s newly opened Middletown Emergency Department on Del. Route 299.

“Middletown Emergency Department’s onsite lab can handle any type of blood test ordered by the patient’s primary care provider,” said Cheryl Katz, vice president of Pathology and Laboratory Services at Christiana Care. “Our patients in the Middletown/Odessa/Townsend area have been asking for a Christiana Care lab site for several years. The new Emergency Department provided us with the opportunity to offer that service.”

Previously, the closest Christiana Care center accepting walk-in patients for blood tests was the Smyrna Health & Wellness Center’s Medical Aid Unit.

Walk-in hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday.
